VALET SWITCH

Postby 89dudney » Thu Sep 05, 2013 9:24 am

Can someone direct me to a website of where I can buy a valet switch kit. Im a high schooler and Im gonna turn my dodge up. I would like it to become a daily driver and a lot of guys say that when the valet switch is on, it helps save a bunch of fuel.

Why don't you get a Honda like the rest of the kids?

cmann has just a ball valve type deal iirc. cheap and easy. I bet Dad would put a keyed switch on it to keep you from doing what he did. Did you get gauges yet?

As RumbleFish said, I took a 1/4" ball valve, stuck barbs on the ends, and threw some hose at it. I got the idea from pulltilbroke. The head is already 1/4" NTP and I drilled and tapped the AFC Cover to 1/4" NTP.

As far as daily driving, my fuel economy is within 1 mpg with the valet open or closed. I leave it closed to save my quickly dying automatic transmission. With the switch open, it blows straight through the converter.

The long and short is it cuts power and smoke, but myself and others have observed little to no fuel economy gain. The 6BT is efficient. What's your current fuel economy over the last 1000 or so miles?

If I was just running the basic mods I don't know if I would even mess with a valet switch...but here is what I did. Got the idea from DTR.

The thread in the pump top is actually M8 x 1.0. I could have tapped it out to 1/8" NPT, but got this instead.

And a switch on the dash to control it. (left switch is to power KSB or activate pressure switch to turn on KSB, right switch is for the vallet)
