Engine core heater ? Keep or throw ......

Postby jethro » Mon Sep 15, 2014 8:25 pm

I have just replaced all my freeze (core) plugs. --- except the one which has the block heater in it.
I live in central florida- seldom gets below freezing here - maybe 5 nites a year- and then not by much.

Should I remove the thing and put a regular plug in there ? Should I remove it and clean it and put it Back in ?
( it has an allen head bolt in the middle- which I am guessing that maybe locks it in place somehow- maybe with an O-Ring around the edge to make the seal ?????????? )

I don't want my inattention to it to make a leak later once its back in the truck .........................

What to do ?

I'd leave it,or replace it with a new one. Nothing like instant warm air on a cold day.....at cold start up.
