Well, I figured that went without saying, until he actually started swapping stuff anyways, everyone knows you can't mix and match parts that spend their life rubbing together inside an engine, they have to stay paired.
Sorry for the confusion.

Considering there's like 6 parts max inside a 12v injector he could swap them all over himself and have a diesel place repop them for much cheaper than a new set of injectors.

How will a p-pump nozzle flow compared to the 89 injectors? I believe it was a 160 or 175 hp truck so 5x.008 or 5x.009 compared to 4x.013.

Would the spray patterns be the same? or correct? Sorry this is where it gets over my head.

They look to be a decent bit smaller, I tried figuring percentages going by our Injector Chart, but gave up in a flurry of failed math problems. The spray pattern will also be more narrow, 145* compared to your 155*. No biggie there, it'll actually allow you to advance timing more without spraying out of your bowl.

any p pump nozzle will be smaller than your non i/c injectors. A 215 nozzle is actually a hair, and I mean a hair larger than i/c inj.

So the saga continues.

It looks like parts of the ring of the head gasket got bounced around in the pistons for awhile. Hoping the bore is still round, may ball hone the bore and put new rings in.

The other thought was since the scratches aren't that deep is to fill the bore with diesel and see if it leaks down. My nail barely catches the scratches.

You can kinda still see the cross hatch through the scratches.

Bounced around in piston #6 as well.

Are all 12 valve pistons the same?

Does anyone know the spec of out of round and wear limits for the cylinders? Mine were out of round by .002 which doesn't seem that bad but looking for the wear limits to see if I can hone and re-ring the one cylinder to get me by till a rebuild this winter.

Figured I would give an update. Block is toast without sleeves, so got a used block off a friend and now is at the machine shop. Getting .020 pistons and decked. Also bought some new 370's for the head. I am hopeing my parts will be in today or tomorrow so the shop can finish the bore work.

One mistake I may have made though, bought the parts before the shop told me they needed to deck the block, ended up taking off .0065". I am thinking I will need the thicker head gasket. I may measure the piston stick out and go from there.

If i were in your position, take the injectors to someone with a lathe and turn them down to 7mm. Seems easy and cheaper than finding other injectors. I have a soft spot for those 9mm injectors they have some power potential

I would have tried that since I have access to a lath but the pop pressures were all over the board and they looked pretty beat up and was having injector issues as well.

Some pics of the progress.

My daughter picked the paint, I was worried she was going to pick a purple or pink lol.

Nice color, better than dark green and beige by a long shot. 8)

In the truck.

AND running..

Had a probllem with trying to get oil pressure, finally broke down and removed the front cover and filled oil pump with vasoline. That did the trick.

Truck runs great, the new injectors are awesome, have to do some tuning to get ride of some of the black smoke at low boost. I don't like black trailers. heehee Oh went with marine 370's and so far I love them for towing.

The truck feels like it has more power, smoother running and quieter. All in all, I am happy except for the empty wallet.

Looks great, man, congrats on getting it running!

The last part sounds normal to me, glad I'm not the only one it happens to.
