Melted injector tips

Postby josh_6bt » Sun Oct 05, 2014 6:25 pm

Awhile back my truck runaway will I was idling down a street. I later found out my he351 blew its seals, which was what I believe caused the runaway. I just got the head off and found all but 2 injectors have the tips melted off. What would cause this? Excess oil in the combustion chamber causing a raise in temps?

I'm assuming the pistons were melted as well? An he351cw at runaway rpms and 7x10s would cause utter extreme heat, it could simply be the fact of things got that hot.

Do you have pictures of these things? I've never seen that before.

I'll get some soon. Just the edge of the bowl is melted but it looks more like it's sandblasted than melted. No holes either.

I've personally never seen that before... but to me it simply looks like things just plain got crazy hot.
