HELP!!!! VE troubles

Postby 93MilitiaMobile » Thu Oct 16, 2014 3:44 am

Anyone know where i can get my hands on a new AFC pump top housing. I just went to reseal mine to find that someone had installed the fuel screw with what seems to be locktite.Damn screw broke at the washer and is now lodged in the housing. Gonna take it to the machine shop today but my hopes are faultering. Any help or info will be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like someone cranked on the fuel screw a little too much. There may be enough left on the inside to get on it with vise grips, put some heat on the housing around the screw and see if it'll budge. If not, I'm sure you'll be able to drill it out, but be careful ;)

Worst comes to worst, I may have a spare pump top laying around...

Thanks Ike, I've got it with a competent machine shop (fingers crossed). Guess I did over torque on the screw, but i had heat on it for a few hours. Measured the screw had heated to 400F clean through and no budge. I knew this was going to be an issue the first time i tried to turn it when i took the pump apart for my 366 spring, so i've had a new screw and o-ring ready and waiting. Did everything in my power, sadly a 20 year old farmer used drill press just ain't that precise. Stopped before my bit deflected to far so hopefully they can get a mill bit down there as the screw also broke on an angle....... fingers crossed. I'll let you know if i have a need for that potential top. thanks
