grid heater ? keep or throw ?

Postby jethro » Fri Nov 07, 2014 9:15 pm

I live in florida-
Do I need to keep the intake air heater (grid heater) ?
How cold does it have to get before that is needed ?
Also- is there an intake elbow that will bolt on without the heater segment present ?

I doubt in Florida you need them as my yellow truck would start down below 20deg not plugged in and with no grids. My trucks with grids start down below zero not plugged in. They aren't enough restriction to worry about. I once measured the loss across them with a datalogger on a 1000+hp12V puller and it was less than .5psi drop. Expect 0 performance enhancement by their removal.

A 1st gen shouldn't have any issues (with no grid heater) until it starts getting into the single digits. Add a bunch of timing.. teens.
