triplex tranny shifting

Postby txs » Fri Mar 26, 2010 9:02 am

If you have time watch part of this 4 minute video, I picked up a triplex IH yesterday, no way will the auxilliary shift through the gears that easy. This one shifts easy between D and O (2nd and 3rd) but very difficult between U and D (1st and second).
93 w250 6 speed 4" exhaust, caution, work truck, she's no beauty. building 1 ton dually 4x4, dana 80, 48rh, 205 Scratch the one ton, bought frt. dually 4x4 98 12 valve with the tiny rear doors. rides so much better than the 93.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2mf6AUbjT-s That should be it, DOH, another homer moment for me. I tried again today before I removed the auxillary tranny from the truck, think the shift linkage is fubared. popped the pto cover off for a peek and the gears look perfect.

I know the title on the video says Triplex, but you shift a Quad the same way. You only hit Lo-Lo when you're doing serious off road stuff, soft ground or heavy weight.
Ahhh, the good old days, when I was young, the beer was cold, and the GF was HOT! ;)

I drove the truck home, know why they decided to sell, the main tranny sounded like a cement mixer with dry rocks in it, especially 2nd gear. very strange pattern on the main 5 speed, 1st and reverse were all the way to the right, 2nd and 3rd were all the way to the left, 4th and 5th in the center gate.
