I've just about had enough.

With this site...

I'm pissed about the 'new post' bs when I log onto this site. It doesn't matter if I've looked at each thread in each forum a hundred times, the site still tells me there are unread posts or new posts, new threads in EVERY damn forum. Before the format change I could log onto the site and the 'new post' icon at the far left of the page next to each forum would be lit up so to speak if a new post was made. Hell I've got everyone lit up indicating a new thread or post. But I can look over to the far right of the screen to see when the last post to the newest thread was made and it might say December of 2009!! To say the least I'm not happy with this site anymore   . Some of you may have noticed I don't post or reply to much here lately.

Any idea what to do to fix this bs? I've tried the 'Delete all board cookies', whatever that it. But I like cookies, where do I get them? Are they available through 1stgen.org?

Ok I'm off my soapbox.

I had the same problem when I hit "View unread posts". Fixed it by hitting the "View new posts".

Wow, sorry to hear that Bill.

What I do is click the "mark all forums read" button up there. That way I know what's new and what's not.

Hope we don't loose ya.

The " view unread posts " is what I use every time and I never get anything but the new posts. I don't think there is anyone on here more then me and it works every time. This site works great once your used to it.

I use the same method and it works just fine for me. If you delete your cookies there is no record of your last visit so hence forward to the next time you show up the board tosses the cookies and get no reply reference from your computer as to your when your last visit took place. This makes the board think everything is new and flags it so that it now is. Same deal as reformatting your hard drive and visiting here. Does that make any sense as to why?

'Mark forums read'. That might be it! 1stgen.org has always been my favorite site, I didn't want to leave. Evidently it was the operator, not the website  . I'll see how it goes now, thanks again.

BTW, will I need to click on the "Mark forums read" from time to time?

What bob said is true as well. It sounds like your cookies are getting cleared. If you clear them your computer does not remember what you have read.

I guess whenever it becomes an issue? It took me a little while to get used to it but I am now in the habit of coming to the site, seeing what's new, then marking everything as read. Everytime. Then I always know what is new with a quick glance next time I show up.
