Whoops

Postby pulltilbroke » Fri Dec 25, 2009 4:53 am

Well it wasn't a very good X-Mas eve for me. Me and the old man were out seeing how crappy the roads were and then POOF were up to the doors in snow[duhhh]. So we had to walk a mile in a blizzard to steal my buddy Dans 93 and 5 hours later were back home havin coffee[coffee]

So, how was the snow?
Don't worry, the power was out here from @ 9:30 'til 1 AM.

Did I mention I was in a warm, dry TEXAS this time last year? :(

Don't worry, you get better with practice.

You are such a dipsiht! At least you got it out, it could have been a worse ending.

I used to go driving in the blizzards too when I was young. ;) It was always a good time. Turn off the headlights, foglights on, and away we went. :D

Yeah, I should get a dumbass award for this one

I'm just glad I had access to another truck capable of getting my pile out

We did end up with a little carnage though, nothing drivelinewise but I did screwup the toolbox, someof my dashlights aren't green anymore and we broke 2 straps

Cripes!
You BROKE bulb covers in the cluster yanking on it???
Dash still in one piece?

Don't worry, I had the Breeze high centered on snow (got it back in the drive) and the hauler won't start.

If I believed in it, I'd tell you Merry X-mas, but I'll tell you "Good Luck" instead.

I'll be after some, ya got any

We had 4 straps tied together and I was getting up to 25mph or so in 3rd hi in dans truck, needless to say we were hitting it REAL HARD. The old man also pulled some of my wiring out of the fuse box with his big feet.

Yeah, I have some, not sure HOW the heck they came loose, they are in there pretty snug.
Unless cold makes them super brittle, or something.

You can have whatever of them you need, I have several out in the front room.

Sounds like you all took pulling lessons from these guys!

My philosophy is if you can't pull it get something bigger. I have had bad luck jerking things out. Bent the frame in a military humvee pulling it out once. Those things suck in the snow.

If I would of had somthing bigger I would have used it.

At least we didn't break any hitches. I built both hitches on the trucks

I have had to get the backhoe or excavator more then once to get pulled out. My mother who lives next door heard a bad spell brewing out back one day. She came around the corner and I had a 1/2 ton chevy hanging by the front bumper from the excavator. It just happens sometimes. Andrew, was that in the middle of the road? Thats a fair amount of snow. If that was here and there was that much snow in the road someone would be sued or fired. People move here from away and have a total badspell if the roads are even slippery. Cool pictures by the way :D

Richie, yes that was in the middle of a gravel road. Our hiways dont look much better right now. Most of our east west hiways are closed as of 7 o clock this mornin as well as a lot of our north south roads

They pulled all the road crews off last night cause they couldn't keep up with it and they wont hit it again till tomorow mornin

Our crews never get pulled off. When I worked for a town we plowed until it stoped snowing. There were no shifts. If it snowed for 30 hours we plowed for 30 hours. We never let it get ahead. I always got called right when it started snowing. We plowed the route over and over again during the storm. Last time I went to Canada it was like down your way. The crews don't plow till after the storm. It took them 3 days to get the roads open. Just would not work here. Everyone expects to be able to drive there Volvo or Prius down to get a 5 dollar cup of coffee. :D You should have heard the messages on the answering machine of the hiway dept. They would swear and call us every name in the book if there was snow in the road. They would call the police. We even had a guy come in the dept and call the forman a "female reproductive part". We almost pe'ed.

Pullit, feel glad you can move to go to the store or gas station, anyway. ;)

Our "City Maintenance Person" delights in plowing certian people (myself and a number of others) in and getting all of his buddies and relative's roads all plowed out first.
Last snow he didn't plow down the west road as far as he should, then got pissed (not to my face, of course) because I bulled the carhauler through the snow mound he'd left in the road.

The roads here in town won't get touched until Monday, now.

Mark.
