I remember some FFA national conventions. Things went on there that one would not want to get in front of the Sunday congregation and tell about. Of course, I had absolutely no part in the debauchery.
Some people just dont think it can happen to them, doesnt matter what it is- addiction, pregnancy, getting caught driving drunk, etc. It is likely nothing you did or didnt do. Parents cant be around 24/7 to protect their kids. And if they are, the kids resent the parents for being overbearing and the lack of privacy.
My grandmother was widowed in '61 with 5 kids, aged 5-13. They all had the same discipline, same rules, chores, went to the same school, etc. The first 3 turned out to be respectable "good kids" one would expect of a professional (He was a pharmacist in Kirkwood MO in the 40s and 50s) famly. The 2nd to last was a little wild- had a drug arrest or two, smoked a little home-grown, hung around a not-so-great crowd at times, and the last one went super wild. Had a child at 15, was into drugs, partying, and I dont know what else. They both cleaned up by the time they were 25, and they are actually doing better financially and emotinally than the older ones who were "good kids." It may not be so bad after all. God has a funny way of making our lives better sometimes.
And Pete, how do you know about all the sexual activity of the teenage girls in the neighborhood? And the Playboy calendar tragedy you sent was just gross, man.

I should have known, coming from you, there'd be a beached whale in a leotard somewhere. And I was not disappointed.
