You didn't get to Illinois did you? 1st time I went to Michaels place I was going across Il and could actually see the all telephone poles for a few miles. I kept looking down the line of poles and was trying to figure out what was bothering me. Turns out it was all those poles in a row, I'd never seen a power line straight for more then a mile or so.

1979?

Imagine what you do to keep your 1stgen running. Now add another 10 years to its age. Now add ~75% to the cost of all repairs.

Now depend on it to make money.

It's the same story though, as long as you can work on your own truck I can see it being somewhat feasible. But then you'll need another set of tools, 1" impact, 3/4" socket set, blah blah blah...

I do respect seeing a nice, old truck out doing work. There's a guy that comes into work with an old Louisville tri-axle that is spotless, shiny wheels, clean paint, you can just tell the dude goes home and washes it every night. I love that truck, it brightens my day just to see it roll in.

You think it sucks keeping a 1stgen on the road? Try keeping a spotless 1stgen on the road.

What's the GVWR of a 1stgen? What's the GVWR of that K-dub?

Take that multiple and apply it to the upkeep. I'd guess that number would be pretty low. :?

I fixed my odometer! I installed a new gear to replace the broken one. It will be nice to figure mpg's again.

I have one of those sitting on my bedside table. The one that was in The Roo Hunter was fine, but my dad decided to sell mine to someone. When my dad and brother lifted my truck to take it out the legs kicked out and smacked my bad fender and good rocker. So now I need both rockers, 1 fender, both bedsides, and a passenger door

Hence retirement plan Levi. I can't sit for hours on end

I also have no clue how those guys keep spotless trucks. I haven't washed my Dodge since the beginning of October. Twice the surface area would be a nightmare.

I washed jaeger last Sunday. Now she's a bit dusty. I haven't wash The Roo Hunter since July or August if last year, but she hasn't been driven in that time so she's not dirty

Prior to the paint job, I washed it once, maybe twice in about 2.5 years so you aren't far off

I drive on a gravel road to get to and from work so mine end up dirty or muddy pretty fast depending on how wet the road is

This winter I've been washing the salt off the van which I shouldn't have....Now I've power washed rust holes in the rockers, and the hatch....stupid van and salt.....I don't ever wash my work car...and the truck gets a yearly washing sometime in the summer lol. I haven't waxed a vehicle in a long long time...

I didn't wax my truck for about a decade. With the large amount of rust it had. No reason to.

Now it looks like I better relearn how to do it.

My folks had to put their Cockerspanial to sleep a couple of weeks ago at the age of 16. Today we went and picked up this little girl.

I've waxed 1 vehicle total in my life, and it was a service truck we were getting ready to sell at work. I have no reason to wax The Roo Hunter because of all the damage, and I have done a proper wax on jaeger. I think I will sometime this summer though

It makes the job a lot easyer and faster. After a little time you will wonder why you didn't do it sooner.
