Mark, in town right after Thanksgiving, going around a flat right hand corner that is sharper than it looks, the truck started to straighten out as i was turning. I thought it was my mind playing tricks so i ignored it. Last week out got real prominent and i noticed the crack early in the week but couldn't get to it right away as Rachel was busy every night and i needed to watch the kid. So i took a ratchet strap and tightened it around thebox so it would have more "protection". It worked temporarily and it is fine now.

Bill, I offer my sincere apologies for my comment! I know most of you guys had a rough time over there and a worse one from the public on your return. I posted without thinking it thru and am sorry for that. There's a few bad apples in every crowd, and today it's me! ;)

Did anyone else see that electronic tuning is supposedly being heavily regulated as of recently? According to EFIlive's web site, deleting a DPF or EGR is still illegal and now it's going to be enforced.

Looks like my 12v just went up in value.

Caleb, that's old news.
I actually talked a guy out of TRADING me his DPF/CAT stuff because of the backlash that's coming out on the delete/reprogramming stuff.

WTTW, better consider de-tuning the mechanical ones, if they will smoke, because it's probably going to come our way eventually, because the dumbass in the oval office wants more and more government interference in our day to day lives.

A man pulled up next to a little girl walking home from school and
said "If you get in, I'll give you a lollypop." The girl kept walking.
Following along slowly, the man said "Come on and get in with
me and I'll give you two lolly pops." She kept her eyes on the
sidewalk and continued on her way. The man said "Get in with me and
I'll give you this whole bag of lollypops!" Finally, the girl turned
and said "Look daddy, YOU bought the Duramax, YOU ride in it!!!"

I think for now, the government is focused on disabled emissions equipment. To my knowledge, no 1st gen ever came with any emissions equipment :D If they start giving out black smoke tickets, it will be just like SDX year around. I survived without a ticket  Didn't act like an idiot either ;)

I'm not crying wolf or anything, but educate yourself.

You see those 2 little tin tags on the timing case?
The smaller one tells you that the engine in your truck is "certified" for a certain duty of emissions compliance and names a model year.
The larger one tells you the output of the emissions and the settings on the injection pump to achieve those emissions.
They both give manufacture dates and the ESN on the one correlates to the VIN for the vehicle it was originally installed in.

Is it LIKELY that the EPA is going to worry about a 20 year old vehicle's emissions in Nebraska or Indiana?
Likely not, but this is the government.
If they so choose, they can make a stink about anything, because there are standards in place, guidelines for the emissions the engine is supposed to adhere to, and laws that support their position.

To see how complicated it could REALLY get for us, one only has to look at California's laws where anything with a Catalytic converter gets smogged and any on-road diesel has to at a minimum pass a snap-test and particulate test.

Want to drive a vehicle with ZERO emissions equipment?
You'll be driving something 1963 and older, because a PCV valve (introduced in 1964) is considered an emissions device.

I was thinking external emissions equipment, but indeed you are correct. Hey man, you can find everything on my engine in a Cummins catalogue  That'll hold up in court.

So went to get fuel today after leaving the doctors office Local stations have gas at 3.15 and diesel at 4.19. I asked the manager what the deal was with that and he told me not to worry about it just fill my tank. I told him to kiss my a$$ and left.

I saw diesel at $3.92 today Andy.

Evidently an 8 point socket is a rare thing. The latest bind I've put myself in involves adjusting the bands in that wonderful torque sapping device Chrysler calls a Load Flight 727. This renews my interest in a G56. Body work is getting pushed onto the back burner. Having a truck that doesn't offend the eyes just is that high on the list.

The saddest part of this whole ordeal is I made the mistake of looking on Craigslist for those dirty Power Strokes. They're getting cheaper. I'm getting tired of getting stuck in 1/4" of mud like yesterday
