I put my fuel sump in today, what a cluster fart of errors that was! I had the fuel almost all drained out when I realized I didn't have a 3" hole saw, so I had to chase around to find one. Then I got the hole drilled and the sump fitted, and discovered that my 90* fitting I was going to use wouldn't screw into the sump, and there was no place to get one today. I went to my buddies and found a fitting on a burned up truck he had and put that in. Then I couldn't get the screws to start in the keeper ring. A 2 hour project took me about 6, typical.
Caleb, be careful, you will get fuel out of it when you drill the hole. I pumped mine out thru the draw straw and then jacked up the back of the truck as high as the jack would go to push the last bit to the front. It still had a little in the back. Locate where it has to go, drill the 3" hole, then drill 1 screw hole and put a bolt in from inside to hold the sump. Do 1 on the opposite side and then hold the sump in place and drill the rest. I had a couple holes that were off a little bit and the screws started hard. Cut off 2 -1/4 inch bolts to use as line up studs, screw them into the keeper plate, then put up the sump and the rest of the screws. I used my screw gun with an allen bit to drive them most of the way in, then finished with an allen wrench by hand.
Not really a bad job, just my luck Murphy was helping me today.
