Less reliable.... the 03 and early 04 injectors had a single stage injection system.... when they went away from that is when the issues were more prevalent.

The only advantage to the 06 era of trucks is there are a lot more tuning options.... thus more power can be made easier.

One of my coworkers has a 2005, and is wondering why he gets 13-14 mpg. Small lift, 315's on 20's, automatic and the usual mods, intake, exhaust, tuner. I though it would get better than that too...but may be the nature of the beast?

Single stage injection event? Kinda like our stuff?

Correct... Also, the 03 and early 04 trucks got WAY better economy. Well.. easier anyways.

Mine (manual mind you) got 16.5 stock with 35s.... after a tuner was around 20, and then after nozzles I was getting around 23 with it. Yes, hand calculated.

Early 05 was the last of the nv5600. They also ran plastic intercooler ends that like to separate. The 05 I had was 20mpg never had any problems with it besides ball joints. Third gens seem to go through ball joints a lot more then the second gens. I've done a ton of them. If I had the option I'd like a 2014 with a ppumped12v.

6.7 cummins injectors are also more reliable than 5.9 injectors. Unfortunately the cp3's on the 6.7's don't flow as much as the 5.9 cp3's

There's no denying that the new trucks have a far better/more refined/more advanced powertrain with things like common rail injection, 4 valves per cylinder, stout locking autos, big transfer cases, and tough axles. Those are all things I'd like to have in a truck.

What I can't get over is how ugly, plastic, and common they are. I love the old square body style whether it be a W9 KW, 379/359 Pete, or a D/W series Dodge, C/K series Chevy, or a '97 and back Ford. On the same note, all the plastic brings down the class. I want nothing but chromed steel on my bumpers. Also I hate fitting in ( and I pay that price every time I look for parts  ). I can't say how many times I've met a fellow gearhead and we get to talking trucks, then I tell them that I drive the blue 1st gen and they instantly make the connection. If I said I drive the blue CR, that would describe probably 50 trucks in the area.

I want an 06-early07 just because I like the interior better. I really want a mega cab long bed, 6spd,dually, leather with the dvd. I know you can't get a long bed in a mega, but you can make one or have one made. Mainly to use for trips\camping\whatever I need to. but that would mean getting rid of my crew and I don't think I can part with it lol...at least not yet, we'll see how much rust starts appearing when I strip it down.

I'm with you there Caleb. There's been a number of times I've talked about my first gen and people say something to the likes of oh that's you. There's no way I'd get anything like that with my 4th gen

what'd we miss over here??

Yesterday at work I picked up a nailgun and it went off. I never touched the trigger or bumped the tip on anything. I thought it was weird, then I saw the 3" spiral shank nail hanging out of my leg. All expenses paid trip to the hospital! My wife works there so she was lucky enough to spend a couple hours with me.
Fyi, if when the nurse hands you a pee cup dont ask for magazines to "help you out" because both the nurse and your wife will slap you right where you got the tetanus shot and tell you thats for a different test. Wth, they just said to fill it half way, never said with what...

That's no good! glad you're alright.....

I've been searching for new wheels for my first gen. I just didn't want to pay $1200 for wheels and tires. So I went to Autozone to ask the gear head I know that works there if he had a suggestion. He came out and looked at them. We went inside and he showed me the Mothers Mag and Aluminum polish. He swore by it and says that's all he bought. So I paid $15 for a tub of this polish and a 3 pack of some towels. I spent 3 hours polishing all 4 wheels and I'm glad I did.

Much better than $600 in wheels!

Nice work man. Last time I did my wheels I took a buffer with some worn out disks, and then took sandpaper to smooth it out. It did alright, but I'm looking into new wheels because I don't want the hassle anymore. I'm not going with black wheels though, as I'm tired of that look, and want something shiny. As long as they don't turn brown if I don't polish them I'll be happy

The Home place, just rain.

The beach place, is on the island just below the "E" in Jacksonville (as shown in the RADAR image). The current forecast has the Outer Banks getting 100mph winds (north-east of my beach). My place will be in the stronger parts for what it's worth, as it heads to the outer banks. My brother in-law is there now with his family for the holiday.
