With THAT much weight, 1 thing is guaranteed:

If you start to spin, you WILL sink towards the bottom, traction or not.
Whether there is "a botttom" before it high centers on axles or suspension, is another matter.

I have also found that wheel chains don't like 100 mph wheel speed when you do get hung up. :D I had a set fly off and go in the air before. I used to air down the tires, tighten the chains and then air them back up. Made for a tight fit that stayed away from sheet metal.

just got in from pushin. they said we got 13 inches. i had to do a mile long driveway today. i wll tell you it was a true test of the truck. test how well it pushes, cools the engine, cools the tranny, keeps traction adn how well it keeps parts together. the least amount of snow on this road was right around 2 feet, teh deepest was a drift right around 8 foot. there was a a section of road that was 60yds long that was a soild 5 foot. that is the most i have ever gone through and it was friggin sweet!

Yeah not too much to hurt

Well went over to Marks place today to drag his hauler out of the yard and figured I'd take the back roads over to P-Town so I wouldnt burn down the chains on the hiway, I found that my county the back roads had been busted open a couple times but the roads in Otoe county had blown shut again overnight so I ended up going through 3/4 of a mile of bumper deep snow with spots that were drifted well over the hood and I made it through under my own power.
There was a couple guys digging a car out about 100 yard down the road and when I busted through the look on their faces was priceless, Kind of a WTF look

The danged thing of it is, it only took 2 or 3 jerks to get 14,000 + pounds up out of a fairly well dug tire-spun hole, with 14 inches of FRESH snow to pull through.
Once we were rolling, we didn't stop 'til we hit the main road, and (sorta') firm ground.
I know from past experience that the TIRE CHAINS make all the difference in Pullit's movments after his earliest escapade, because there is just ice under all that snow.
Not many good tires alone will pull through all that.

Mark.
