Looks like a perfect candidate for a 12v swap! :P

I can't blame you for wanting a manual 4wd over an auto 2wd for working it. I can hold the Ford part against you for a little while, but at least you didn't buy a 6.5 Chevy. Have fun with your new fangled computer and HEUI injectors.

Dont let the door hit ya...
I completely understand what youre saying tho. Problem is, for me, there is no other truck out there that interests me. And the simplicity and reliabity of my ve trucks has me spoiled.

I can't say I blame you for wanting 4wd, but I've driven a 7.3 sd with zf6 and it was rubbish. Had no power whatsoever, so I'll blame you for that

Also if you hadn't noticed I haven't been able to drive my 1st gen for over a year, and am currently dd'ing a 4th gen. So just because you don't have the truck doesn't mean you can't hang around here

He's been looking for a good opportunity to come out of the Ford closet for awhile now.

You know it!

With a somewhat heavy heart, I feel as though I should inform you all that I am moving on vehicle wise.

It all started shortly before I wrecked the Dodge. Got stuck in a perfectly dry field trying to pull a hay wagon out. I was fed up with a 2wd truck so I started looking for a 4x4. I started looking at 1st gens, 2nd gens, OBS F350s, and 7.3L Super Dutys. I got a handle on the market and found that financially the SDs where the best buy, being newest. I started hunting for regular cabs with the ZF6 and called too late on a few.

I listed my Dodge a week ago yesterday and Thursday a kid came to look at it. He had to have it, claiming it was the cleanest 1st gen he'd seen in a while. He made a down payment and claimed he'd be back on Tuesday, as he banks out of town. For those doing market research, I got $4700 for the truck plus a bed load of parts.

Yesterday, I picked up this:

Image

2002 F250 diesel, 4x4, manual, XLT trim. I gave $5800.

So I guess you won't see me much around here anymore. I maintain that the 1st gen guys I've met through this site are the nicest people in the diesel scene. I still have some deals outstanding with some folks and I'll make good on those.

Flame suit on

Thank The Lord you got a manual. That's the only way your gonna overcome that off idle gutless 7.3.

Nice truck Caleb I'm sure you'll enjoy the nice ac,ride, and comfort in it. ;) all the things you won't get out of a comparable 1stgen

I don't know why you guys b!+ch about the AC. My last 2 trucks were great! The one before those was mediocre but adequate. My first didn't even have that option.

Having driven both the ZF6 and auto, I like the autos. Now a ZF6 without the dual mass flywheel is awesome.

One thing Ford's aren't known for is a nice ride. My 09 work truck rides like a hay wagon. Keep your eyes open for a 12v go swap in it later Caleb.

I'm still disappointed with how rough the ride is on my 4th gen. It's not really much softer than The Roo Hunters ride

I agree with swapping the pos psd for a real engine. It's only an inch longer anyhow

No comparison between the two.....mine is fine after about 20min of running. On that ford.....almost at start up,depending on temps. Oh the wonders of an orifice tube. ;)

My work truck and my dump truck ride worse then a 1st gen. :D My work truck bounces all over at the slightest bump. Its been developing a death wobble as well. It has less then 30k miles on it.

Low gear in low range with 3.73s is pretty torquey. And you bet your azz that I cranked the A/C and set the cruise on the way home

This is not a DMF flywheel. It doesn't rattle in neutral with the clutch out. I guess the clutch was replaced at one point.

For you guys talking about cross dressers, this engine should have PMRs. If I keep it another 80k miles, I may need a 12v. (even though forged rod 7.3s are cheaper, but harder to find)
