A friend of mine wants help with an Allison. This will be a new experience for me.... Willingly working on a GM product

I wonder what tricks GM engineered into an Allison to make it hard to take out.

The computer has to be reflashed when you put it back in so just a heads up.

Does a dealer do that or can he do that with EFI live?

Does that mean it doesn't move until it's reflashed or won't shift right or it can't be driven to town to get reflashed?

Look at the vido. There are a pair of 4 wheelers tangled up in front of the pile up. Most likely they caused it.

So, I finally (after a year and a half).... took my darn thermostat out and turned it around (I wasn't paying attention and put the thing in upside down when I o ringed the head). Took about 15 minutes and my truck no longer fluctuates constantly on the heat gauge.

The things I put off sometimes on my truck, just astounds me. LOL.

I thought I put it in correctly...the jigglers are on top, correct? I'm kinda getting sick of the swings, I pulled my cardboard winter front, as the damn thing overheated on me while I was going down the interstate...in -10 temps.

I have one little "jiggler" (if that's what they are called) and yes it goes on top.

my 98 frt is giving me some problems. When starting it acts like its only hitting on a couple, when it does finally catch it runs rough, smokes like a 3208 cat and then after about 2 or 3 minutes it cleans up and is fine till you shut it off and let it sit overnight. I don't think it's a cold start thing, it even does it at 60*

Injector(s) or timing. I'm having the same issues out of my conversion motor, but only cold or if it sits forever.

It's easy for the timing to slip on the P-pump trucks, not sure why they decided to take the key out of them. :?

That's the way my truck would act when the timing was retarded.

I'm fixing to take it out and remove that jiggler...or go try a Gates unit. The thing rarely sits at a constant temp...swings back and forth almost constantly on my 33 mile trip to work.
