I'd love an ALH TDI powered Subaru.

I wish Subaru would import their diesel version to the US. Currently only available in Europe.

I think it'd be great to have all the European diesels over here. It'd be really nice to have a lot of options for small diesels

I do not understand the diesel car craze. Based just off of TDIs, I don't know how someone can say it's a financially sound decision in today's world when playing by the rules. Before they exploded in popularity one almost could not afford to have one. The fuel is more expensive, the maintenance is more expensive, and the premium is insane in my opinion.

I'll do more research to validate my opinion when I have time.

Until the strict emissions came about on Diesels.. they were light years ahead of the game for fuel economy. Now a days.. its a wash.

I mean look at full size trucks... Gassers literally can get the same economy, have as much hp... and can pull damn near as much. It is getting so I drive diesels because they haul ass and can take a serious abuse and keep going. Otherwise... strictly financial reasons, it is flipping insanely expensive to own a diesel truck....

EXCEPT FOR A GOOD OL' 1ST GEN 12 VALVE.

P.S. I never said the above statement, as it conflict directly with my livelihood.

If I were to buy a new car right now it would be a gas Passat. My mom has one and its a great little car that gets great gas mileage and I fit nicely in it. Lol

The power craze and tightened emissions standards are really hurting diesels economic competitiveness. Nobody "needs" a 450 hp pickup and I think diesel engines are going through an adjustment period not unlike what gas engines went through in the 70's and 80's. If we put as much effort into developing mpg's as we do "clean" diesels, this discussion would be quite different.

I have square plastic buckets that cat litter came in, I fill them with stone dust, each weighs 60-70 lbs and I can get 6 across just inside the tailgate. Great traction, plus they are easy to handle if I need them out. I have them in and out several times over the winter.

Those 60 pound sand tubes were $4 each so I just bought 8 of those and played them against the tailgate. It did just fine today in the snow.

I plow with a 4x4 truck and it rarely is ever put in 4x4.

I like the diesel for high horsepower applications as the fuel doesn't need to change to allow the engine to not explode. For instance I eventually want to have a number of trucks in the 4 digit horsepower range, and the beauty of it will be that I won't need to run race gas to drive it, and they'll get massively better mileage than a similarly horsepowered gas job

Yes sir... The reason I originally went to diesel back in the day... I couldn't stand not having a lifted truck. Gasser equaled 5mpg (I've always driven big trucks and high hp). With a diesel, I could still get 20mpg.

Now, it is a fact of having a ton of hp and still have it as streetable as stock. Can't do that as well with a gas rig.

Yes.... EXCEPT when it is smothered by emissions and the technology for diesel has not come as far as gas.

In all seriousness, you can take identical trucks (brand new) and the gas truck (weight to weight) is damn near identical on the highway. At least Dodge is right now.

P.S. 2014 diesel has come around a little..... 2007-2013, gas was actually a tad higher.
