Well... yea. New engine has to be pulled back apart and now we have to cut valve reliefs for the pistons. Just can't get the clearance.

The trans is still going (as is the converter) I just can't put power to it.

I doubt I'll end up doing anything with it til its flippin' shot. I still plan on doing a lift to the truck within the next month or so.

Eric, are you going to rebuild the trans in.your CR yourself or have a shop do it?

Depends what I'm feeling when I do it.

When it gets a trans... it'll be an 800+hp trans. Dave Goerend, or Firepunk will most likely be in it. Dave, being such an amazing guy (customer service is unheard of)... I'll most likely be using all of what HE recommends. Which if that is the case, I may just do it myself (he says it's not that hard).

Just make sure you do the flexplate at the same time as the converter. A friend of mine didn't, and then his flexplate sheared around the flange. It actually cracked the adapter plate.

Fly cuts won't be too bad. How much are you guys having to take off?

There is something to minimum down time and a warranty when buying one, but the accomplishment of building one feels fantastic.

We need to gain 25 thou yet to make MINIMUM spec clearance. That's with degree-ing the cam 2 degrees as well.

As far as the flexplate......DPC has a non billet flex plate that is VERY reasonable... I'm going to go that route. He said that they have held behind 1000+hp trucks and are a lot better due to the flexplate needing to flex, where as a billet won't.

It's not hard.....when you BUY a MANUAL. Don't listen to part salesmen and follow the manual for the main assembly, and go by the shift kit instructions when it comes to the VB.

You've been in an injection pump, you'll have way more info to go off on the trans.....it'll be no sweat.

As good as those guys are it's hard on Canadians to run stuff from across the border when dealing with warranty, and exchange. If I was down there I'd likely stick a revmax 68 in jaeger, but being where I am I'll most likely go with a trans shop in southern Alberta

Is thus as simple as a hammer and drift, or am in need of some type of press?

I'd recommend a press. Normally I'd be all for throwing some heat cycles at it and hammering it out but I've always been wary of heating spring steel.

If you'd rather go rubber/poly to improve ride I don't see why you couldn't.

Here is why Dave Goerend is the man.....I've been talking to him (not knowing that I am a "company") on this 48re and its "random" issues. He has talked to me for probably 6 hours total, even calling me back just to check up on things.

Yet, I have not bought a single product from him. He is merely doing it for no other reason than straight customer service, that has ZERO benefit for him. I thought that I was the only person who just liked to talk about truck problems that much.....

And Firepunk... well... the top 3 DPC trucks this year had their transmissions, and 1 of the top 3 last year did. Their transmissions are serious to say the least.
