Had fun. The transmission out now and I'm waiting around for this local diesel "expert" to rebuild it. An Ally plus transfer case weighs a lot, but not too much to manage. I should have said "F" it and taken the transfer case off, but the "expert" said that wasn't necessary. Well as it sits bolted up, the transfer case sits a few inches over the torsion key cross member. So after about a dozen tries of letting the front down and maneuvering the tail up/down, back/forth, and left/right, we had it on the ground. The starter has to come out to get the converter bolts, dumb. And the starter sits under 2 inches from the passenger side exhaust manifold with no sort of heat shield that I saw, dumb again.
I should have "Nope, don't want anything to do with it" but I wanted the Allison notch in my belt. That's what greed gets you.
