Naaaaahhhhh, throw a set of studs in it and you're good to 50 psi! Seriously, a set of studs and new gasket on a planed head and you should be ok.

I have studs but as far as I know it's the original gasket 200k plus. I figure if I have to take it off I had better do orings too. I plan on adding more timing

I've got a ways (20,000 miles) to go before I'm over on the mileage, its just they have a age limit on the belt too.

depends.....if its a non interference motor I'd run it. if its an interference motor I'd change it now. I was going to change the one in my neon at 50k instead of 70k and it let loose at 45k and wiped the valves lol.

I just looked it up Mat. On Honda's it looks like the 1.6/1.8/2.0/2.2/2.3 are all tolerance engines.

What are a set of decent condition beauty rings worth? Anybody have an idea?

$40-50...

If I had a full spare set, I'd bring them with this weekend, but I think I may have only seven of them...

I have seen some early-mid 90's church vans sitting that have perfect rings and caps on them

Around these parts they are more like amish haulers aka goat boats or yoder toters. but theyre usually beat up so the caps and rings are gone.

I could desperately use some good news in my life. Thurs I got a call saying my divorce should be final early this week, and then another call with a job offer from the best employer this town has to offer.

Philip. It is an interference engine. I guess I'll have to add that to my short term to do list. I just got done fixing the van tonight. One of the axles that made failed at the adapter do to heat shock. This time we made an adapter about 4,000 smaller than the shaft and heat pressed it with minimal welding. I should last longer than the first one. We also tweaked the drive line angle a bit. We had been running about 15 degrees and it was eating cv joints about every 15,000 miles. Now we have it down to 12 degrees. It should last quite a bit longer now. We hope.

I got my marks back from my schooling, and I passed both government exams, so I'm pretty pleased about that.

I figured out I can use my old iPhone for a speedometer for the time being, and had a weird moment yesterday picking up a new barbecue where my truck wouldn't start. As soon as I'd turn the key from run to start it'd click, and everything would shut off, then a few seconds later everything would come back. I disconnected, and reconnected the negative, and it worked just fine after that.

Figured out the problem with the starting issue. The positive cable terminal had enough corrosion on it that it was messing it up. I took a file to it, and hopefully that fixes it for good.
