Yeah, jiggler, stupid auto correct. It'll get awful warm, then drop in about a second or two. It'll swing like that a few times before it'll settle down. Check your heater valve, vacuum system must not pull enough to open it...so I used two zip ties to hold it open...gets a little better heat since doing so.

Which way does the valve work....when the heat is on it pulls it shut? My heater core is getting plenty warm compared to heat at the vent. I noticed when I had the blower on in the engine compartment the box was pushing some air out on the bottom. It has a foam gasket so I imagine it rotted up and when I'm driving it's sucking in cold air! Might unbolt it later but weather sucks to work outside lol

As far as I know, vacuum pulls the valve open. I should've resealed every joint on the box when I installed the new heater core, I feel air moving, but not hard like it should be. I'm also thinking of putting the motor on a relay for the high setting. Jim Lane did a write up over on DTR on how to do so...

I was wondering about that my blower doesn't move enough air on high I think. Sealed up the box on the engine compartment with a slight improvement. I took off the piece for the dash vent and I still feel some cold air coming in from the other passage is that normal? I messed with my flap and it's shutting all the way put maybe the seal is bad on it letting cold air in still?

Messed with your flap hahaha

In all seriousness, I don't know if that's normal or not, but any air leak would probably hinder heat output. That's where I am running into issues, when the truck is sitting still, its nice and hot inside the cab...going down the road, I can feel cold air rushing in by the glove box.

Ike, you need some kind of strainer to protect the LP. I drove to SOP a few years ago and the pressure dropped all the way. By the time I hit Ft Wayne it was down to 6-8 psi. I pulled the inlet and the screen was plugged and the piston was scarfed. It went from 16 psi to 10 at cold idle because of that. I was bummed.

As for anti gel stuff, does anyone use K100? It's freakin expensive but I guess it works great. Been to a few customers that use it and had no problems.

Yeah my doors got a little draft so that does not help either. Took mine for a drive heats better not super hot by no means but is a diesel, might get my thermo gun out and see what the vent is compared to the heater core. I put my hand on the core for 3 seconds and yyyiiikkkkkkkeessss definitely getting warm there. I don't want to pull the hvac box because I'm a tight ass and don't want to buy r134 for when summer comes lol. Curious if I should get the insulation that covers the box? That might help both of our cold driving condition lol

Sitting in our office at work watching is sleet. We are under an ice warning now.

We've been getting snowed on since 4 pm. Predicting 5-10+ inches. I can get traction on snow. No chance on ice

What all should I grab from a Dodge for a hydroboost conversion and what's the going price for one?

I had one pop up and wonder if it's worth grabbing. What about all my vac stuff in the dash?

For a 2ndgen hydro setup?

The booster and its bracket, I believe the master cylinder (never tried my old one, used adapters and ran new brake line), the hoses from the pump to the booster and booster to steering box, and if the whole truck is there then grab the later-style vacuum pump and PS pump. I T'd my returns and it works great, but the later pumps had dual returns for one less headache.

If the old master would bolt up it would make things easy, but mine have all been junk so I went with the later one. I also ditched my stock proportioning valve though, so who knows what I've got going on.

If you use the later MC but have a flaring tool, just put new ends on your existing line and you're golden.

The last Dodge hydroboost I nabbed at a wrecking yard had the proportioning valve with it, Thats what I was going to run, as it was a disc front, drum rear truck. I sold it to Jeff for a fair price, I've got GM and Dodge units as cheap as $12 a piece, but I won't pay more than $50 for one (I'm a cheap ass). I'd say up to $100 for a nice, clean used one is fair.

2nd gen booster lines are to short for a 1st gen. They are about 4" to short.

If you use the 2nd gen mounting bracket. The master cylinder will not clear the air intake horn. You need 17.25" from the firewall for M/C clearence.

A 2001 disk/drum M/C has the same brake line fittings our trucks have.

Tim did have the pattern for his cool tubz's to clear a 2nd gen booster setup. I had him fab one for me.

Thats what i had in mind when i bought your old cooltubz and the hydroboost unit from Ike! Now I just need to figure out the lines and mounting. Definitely a spring/summer project.

Thanks for that measurement. I have right at 17.5" as best as I can measure with the vac booster and MC in place. I have a '94 model intake horn and it angles forward at 30-some degrees where the 24v model comes nearly straight out if I recall correctly. I have a spare low-mileage proportioning valve that I may swap in too.

Thanks guys.

Is your dad's Oliver working Jeff? I sure hope so! I plowed snow for several hours this morning.
