I haven't heard of any issues though I haven't exactly looked into it

On another note I suspect the reason my truck was throwing codes was because of my timing maps, but I'm not sure

You were a lucky one then. I was never really ready for school no matter how much sleep I got. Hence why I slept in class almost every day. At work I don't fall asleep, but I get slower the more tired I am

So h&s hot damn vs the standard stuff is pretty well night and day. No codes and no traction whatsoever on the dry gravel road. I think the codes were actually cause by my screwing with the timing maps. It's either that or trying to command over 3.9 msec of duration for 125mm^3 rather than the stock 150mm^3

Tom, there is no lift pump on a TDI, the newer ones anyways. The vane pump pulls the fuel from the tank. From what I have heard the pumps are pretty reliable, they are more of an electronic VE than a chronic VP.
Buddy of mine had a hard start issue, the water drain on the filter wasn't sealed good, and was sucking air. You have to pull the filter to access it.

I swear your a 80 year old man trapped in a young mans body. I guess I'll work on getting my RC tank in and swapping fuel systems. I felt the truck pull down on fuel pressure after a hard launch today. It fell on its face shortly after grabbing second.

No lift pump but i recommend putting one on. Amazing how much it helps.

I'm still waiting on steel to do my hotpipe. It's getting to the point of frustration now since I was so excited, and now I'm stuck where I was over 2 weeks ago. I do have stuff to do my fuel system, but I need a large enough container to store half a tank of fuel so I can put my sump in

I'm good with the amount of electronics on my 4th gen, but any more and I can't stand it

TDi's got lift pumps when the PD (BEW) engines came out in 04...I can hear the one on my 04 soon as the key is turned to "run", makes a squish kind of noise when it it pressurizes the system.

The ALH engine is one of the best TDI's made, but keep a close eye on the timing belt, it can sneak up and
bit you for about $1,200 with you doing all the work.

I would love to get a tune from Malone on my 04...I guess the PD engines respond really well from just a tune.
