Do you plug it in and use the block heater? I have been thinking about grid heater delete but that looks like a pain in the ........

You did a beautiful job of washing your cylinders with diesel! :?

Won't find a cold start video from me, it has been a year since I have started mine cold. It's plugged in or in the garage.

Nope... Never plug it in, Dont drive it everyday... Hell dont drive it at all right now. I just start it up everyweek or so and let it get to temp. I'm thinking of putting them back in...

Went to start mine the other morning to move the Genie lift in the yard- fuel had gelled in the injector pump/ lines- Removed the filter, poured the fuel out, put in half PS 911, half PS white bottle, screwed it back on, cranked about 5 seconds, and it sputtered and choked for about 30sec, then smoothed out. (I only have one grid relay hooked up so it has no post heat).

I bet you engine wears faster in one of your cold starts than three days of running. You know that time it takes, to get your cummins warm? It's eating away at itself. ;)

I want mine to be running when I am 60....

I'm sure my 1600* pulls, Large hit of nitrous, and 58psi of boost hurt it just as much. I have no choice. Run a cord from your house to mine and I'll leave it plugged in 24/7 on teh off chance that I MIGHT have to start it once a week. If it was a DD it would stay plugged in just like the 06 (thats where the cord you see in teh video goes) till then, I dont have 3 hours to wait everytime I need to start it to do something. I dont start it for fun, I had some stuff to do and needed it running... I knew it was gonna be a time so I busted out the camera. No otehr choice.

It's better to just leave it sit if you're not going to drive it to get it hot. You will probably see some high levels of fuel dilution, should you get an oil sample analyzed after a winter of that. You are hurting it in terms of hard running from three angles: The pulling/mods, the starting and the oil itself at all times.

Maybe somebody who DOES CARE would be interested in knowing about how not to treat your engine if you want it to last?

DING DING DING

Well kinda... I DO care, just not worried about getting 1,000,000 miles out of it. When I do start it I let it idle up to temp before shutting it off. And I'm sure the oil has fuel in it, I change it with Amsoil every 6 months, before an after pulling season. In the winter I bet it gets less the 1,000 miles on it. It always get to full operating temp before I lean on it hard and it always cools down before I cut it off. I know I abuse my truck, It takes the beating VERY well though... I take every possible precaution I can, I really do, but when it comes down to it, its a play toy, it breaks, I fix...

Good point Ace, I want it to be known I dont abuse my truck on purpose, It just has a rough life! Sometimes I have to start it in teh winter and in my mind the couple times I have to dont justify the electric bill to leave it plugged in all teh time. By all means if you need to rely on your truck to run forever, dont pay attention to me!

I baby the hell out of my 06 if that is worth anything... I drive that like a grandma and take CRAZY good care of it....
