- One idea is that lacking a Control Cone (fuel-pin), the hydraulic pressure in the case, can push the Guide Pin fully into the barrel that the Fuel-Pin rides in such that the Guide Pin is past it's associated sealing ring.
- Another idea is that, like above, lacking a Control Cone, the Guide pin can be hydraulically pushed past the area it has rode in for the last gazillion miles. With that, that area being "clean" from use now has to ride over gum/deposits on the Guide Pin thus damaging an otherwise OLD sealing ring.
NOTE: The above also applies to a leak developing shortly after installing an aftermarket fuel-pin that's cut deep.
