Cannot find correct axle nut Socket

Postby 93DodgeCummins » Sat Jan 12, 2013 8:35 pm

I am trying to get my axle spindle nut off and i cannot find the correct socket. I went to Napa and got the SER 3246 axle nut socket and it does not work. Does anyone know a part number for the correct socket?

I recently had the same issue, but I was using my old socket that I have used many times before, but I was installing new spindle nuts. The grooves cut in the new nuts were slightly too narrow for the tangs on the socket. A little tap with a moderate sized hammer, and the socket fit on the nut ;)

I have searched and this seems to be the only socket mentioned in any of the forums iv searched around in. Is it the right one? I really don't want to use a screwdriver or a chisel....

I ended up taking a socket that was too small and grinding the inside out just enough to allow the nut to fit snug inside. Works great and I just remember it's my W350 socket

It will work. I bought a Peformance Tool brand from the parts store and it hasn't failed me yet.
