w350 dually front wheel hubs

Postby comotionman » Sun Sep 30, 2012 12:51 am

Have any of you guys measured your hub od?
Or tried to mount or run gm wheels? i recently had my front wheels off
to change the tires which no doubt were
Belt separation damaged from not being mounted properly for most of their
life. so i took a measurement of the hubs and it sure looks like dodge
used gm spec hubs. i am getting ready to mount some alcoas and am going
to order up a set of hub centric rings and probably glue them onto the hubs
so the front will match the rear hub od. any thoughts or experience?

Some GM wheels have a smaller hub OD, than ours. At least the ones that come off of the P30 bread trucks. Can't say on the Alcoas. My wheels are aftermarket and more "universal". I have to run mag style nuts with washers. IIRC, the set I have, did come off of a GM truck, but they aren't hub-centric.

That is my point. the front hubs on w350 duallies appear to use the gm size for hub centric wheels. dimensions for wheel hub bores for hub centric dually wheels are as follows: gm=4.56", dodge=4.77" and ford=4.88". when i measured my hub od it is just under 4.56".

Since the stock 1st gen rims are stud piloted with 1 piece nuts, I can't say. 2nd gen are hub piloted, though.

I've just recently purchased a set of Chevy Alcoas and am in the process of working on finalizing things to run a complete set of 6 alloys. Next is to get the other two rims and longer studs for the rear. Been talking with a guy from Cummins Forum (comotionman) about this and he has verified that the front hubs are a GM spec 4.58" and the rears are the early Dodge spec 4.77". So I'm going to have to bore out the hub diameter on all the wheels to fit the rear hub spec 4.77" then put hub centric rings on the front hubs. If I was to go with the early Ford Aloca's I believe their hub bore is 4.88"

hey man, how you doing? you got your alcoas? nice going. i measured my front hubs at ~4.554-4.555, and my rear hubs at ~4.758-4.76. can you measure yours and see what you find? your gm alcoas hub bores should measure 4.56 and should be hub centric on our w350 front hubs, you should check it out before you turn them to dodge specs. i measured the hub bores of both my coined and 2nd gen wheels at 4.769. alcoa dodge wheels are 4.77

Haha! I should have known you'd be on here and this would have been your thread you started! Things are good. Well, they're supposed to be coming out of Maryland, but I'm waiting on them to show up. Guy has had several things go wrong on him. Ok, I'll spec them out when I get them. I'm actually planning on boring them all so that I can do a rotation with them. I know I need longer rear studs, but I possibly have another set of GM Alcoa's found so then with them all bored and a ring on the front I can rotate without have to unmount and mount tires!
