Suggestions for brakes?

Postby peobryant » Tue Jul 13, 2010 9:33 pm

I need new brakes in a bad way. I'm sure the rotors are warped as well, so those will have to be replaced as well. What do you guys suggest that are hopefully relatively cheap, but will still be quality?

Thanks,

Parker

I got my front rotors from these people:
http://brakeperformance.com/
I ordered their cross drilled and slotted rotors, and their standard pads and they upgraded me to their premium rotors and pads for the same price. So far I have had no problems with them.
My rear brakes are OEM quality. The trick on the rear is to stay on top of adjustment.

Parker- you should know by now that good and cheap dont belong together. Mom runs Performance Friction fronts on her D350, not sure what she has on the rear; I have Wagner Quiet stops on mine, cheapies on the rear (they squeal- I'm getting new Wagner shoes and drums as soon as I can).

For rotors, stay away from China if you can. LIke Pete said- made of metal + made in China = junk. I think anything in this hemisphere would be just fine.

I got my rotors from them also I had ordered just the slotted ones and they wound up sending me the dimpled and slotted pieces  . I used Raybestos` "Advanced Technology" pads, all new rubber hoses. So far I`m pleased with the parts combo. At the same time I did the rears with 3 inch shoes and 1 1/6 wheel cylinders, brakes work great now when the damn dump valve isnt acting up (occasional squishy pedal).

I just did the 3 inch rears and what a difference. I also removed the dump valve at the same time, 4 bucks worth of parts and now the truck will stop with one foot instead of two.
