Power steering leak

Postby 12valve350 » Thu Aug 19, 2010 4:03 pm

for about a week or two now ive had a pretty good P/S fluid leak from the steering shaft input on the steering box. It drips a bit when parked, moreso when running and it leaves a trail of fluid if i turn the wheel with the engine off. Anyone know the part number to the seal on the steering box?

I bought a seal kit for mine, it was quite a while ago. When you do it, check the input shaft for rust and pits. I put a new seal in and it quit leaking........for a month. I had to change out the input shaft to get it to stop.

Just enough power to break everything behind the crankshaft.

It may not be the right fix but that lucas power steering stop leak works very well. I have seen it almost stop a stream of fluid before in a high pressure hose. Its good stuff. It will get u by for awhile.

If it's leaking as bad as you say, I'd bet you're past the point of any stop leak. It ought to be stop seep, because that seems to be all they are good on is seeps.
