Rear upgrade options

Postby cumminz90 » Thu Sep 23, 2010 6:02 pm

The posi unit in the 93s going bad rather than fix the rear and chance something breaking again id like to put something heavier and better under there such as a dana 80 that wont go bad or hafta worry about breaking all the time. truck will see the sled quite a bit so i want something that will survive that and daily driving. Question is is there any other rears that would work good for this wear i could retain my 3.54 gear ratio? And wat type of vehicles are the dana 80s found? Thanks for the help in advance

Some of the 2nd gens used a 70 so check it out. Also the disk brakes are a fairly new thing. The older 2nd genners have drums.

2ndGens up to early 02 had outboard drums (think of a 1/2ton style drum removal).

If it had a 5spd and a diesel, or was a dually, with a diesel, it has a D80. The only ones that had a 70 were the 2500 autos.
