d250 1 ton?

Postby boomer » Tue Nov 15, 2011 12:20 am

Hi guys.
Well...its a bit strange - maybe this is common thought.
I found that Dodge had 2 different front hubs for the cummins d250....one smaller..one bigger. I leaned this on a rotor change.
Btut when I looked at my rear drums...I could SWEAR that this is a dually rear end !!

the drum...looks EXACTLY like the drums on my old d350.

So - am I right to assume that sometimes Dodge put 1 ton suspension on the 3/4s?
If so...can I put duals on the rear? And can I swap hubs up fromt and make the whole truck a dually?
I gotta flat bed....so I am thinking about it. It gives me better tire options too.
Thanks!

Chances are that the rearend let go at some point and was replaced with a cab and chasis rear. Yes you can find a set of one ton dually hubs and put them on the front as well.

Rear drums on the 250 and 350 Cummins are the exact same, it is the shoes on the inside that are different. 2.5" for the 250 and 3" for the 350.

As for different size front hubs...:?: Unless it stuck out more than normal, they may have put on a 3500lbs front axle setup and not the 4500lbs setup that is needed for the Cummins.

Take some pics! :P

Jon the drums on my 2 D250 rears are no were near the same as the drums that were on my cab and chasis rear.

Here are the drums I just got for my 250 http://www.autozone.com/autozone/parts/ ... 0_0_0_5667
These are the drums that went on my 350 dual wheel.

All of my 250s and 350s have had the expect same drums. Hubs would be differen, but drums interchanged.

Do you guys know if the Cab and Chassis Dually hubs interchange/bolt-on a SRW axle? (for a dually conversion per-se)
