Whats a good replacement cross flow radiator?

What is my best bet for a replacement radiator? MOPAR says they dont have them anymore. Mine leaks from around the lower hose area when I shut it off (only sometime but I'd rather have it tight and leak free).

Mine leaked there when I bought the truck it was a crack in the hose neck. It got worse and worse until I went to change it, and that part of the radiator stayed in the lower hose when I pulled it off...

I got the replacement from 1-800-radiator they have warehouses all over but my boss has an account with the local one so they were nice enough to extend me his discount even tho I payed cash. I went and picked it up. Price was $200 IIRC.

On a side note it developed such a minor leak at one of the tanks a year later. It was where one of the crossflow tubes went in. They would have warrantied it but I didn't wanna do the job again so I put a bottle of veggie sealer in there and it's tight and leak free now.

I brazed the neck back on. I think the cummins-violent-world coming to an end-shutdown probably pulls hard on that neck. I will give it some time to settle and see how it does. The original radiators are real burly and I doubt any of the Indonesian/Indian/Chinese junk ones will be any good. Probably more like tin cans.

Actually the one I got seemed identical to the one I took out, they were both all metal brass radiators.

The ones to worry more about are anything with aluminum core and plastic tanks. Those are the ones you can buy new for like $50

Believe it or not I don't mind aluminum and plastic because a plastic tank seals real well up against metal. The only issue there would be getting the plastic too hot and cracking but I wouldn't do that. I am going to take another look under there tonight. I wonder if there is a leak that isn't from the neck that I am missing.

The problem with the plastic tanks around here is the cold makes them leak.
Mine sprung a leak at the lower tube also, after Cummins NW worked on the engine. They replaced it with a new Modine. Retail was $400 something .

I have a guy @ wizardcooling that will make a drop in aluminum radiator but they are not cheep and buying in numbers will make it cheaper. If anyone wants to do a group buy it would be much cheaper.

Its a nice unit but at 600+ dollars a little to much for me to do by myself. Get 3-4 and he comes down in price allot.

I'd be in depending on price. I cannot swing $600 but I could swing closer to $300+ for a bolt in solution in aluminum.

I like your analogy of that event, they certainly don't give up easily, that's for sure.

I have a couple of spare really low-miles replacement "Valero" radiators.
1 quite possibly has under 5,000, it's clean as a pin inside, the other isn't any worse.

I've been seeing this brand of radiator as replacements in our trucks for YEARS, and they seem to be an equal to the OEM radiators, not only in looks and fit, but in quality and durability.

Back in '05 I bought a new one, a Valero, through a discount nationwide distrubutor (forgot the name) for under $200.
With metal prices what they are, it doesn't surprise me that they have doubled in price.
Hell, one of those radiators JUNKS for around $60-$75 as it is.
