2wd auto to 4wd 5sp

Postby cmann250 » Fri Jun 03, 2011 1:11 pm

Is it worth converting my truck? Or should I just find a 4x4 5 speed?
I saw a 4x4 5sp truck that was diesel, minus the engine for $1500. Is that reasonable?
I bought my truck for $1500, put another $1500 in it to get it working right, so of i were to sell it i'd want at least $3500.

Cheaper in the long run to sell unless you can find a cheap donor truck.

If that truck had the Getrag (or whatever 5-speed it has installed) and the 29 spline 205, I'd say it's probably worth $1500 if it's halfway solid. You can always pick up another VE Cummins and drop in there

The time investment involved with converting a 2x to a 4x would probably make up any more of that $1500 pretty quick, but that's only if you can track down a decently-priced Cummins to throw in it.
