Wheel Stud Size

Postby collegekid » Tue Jul 05, 2011 12:02 pm

Is there a way to tell what size wheel studs I have on my truck 92 d250. I am wanting to put dually wheels on it and will be ordering a spacer but didnt know if they were 1/2" or 9/16".

It'll be the 1/2. Lest that's what's on mine.

Side note: don't break one cause it was a pita to find the right one ,for me anyhow.

Thanks guys, now as far as spacers go, aluminum or steel, not hauling to heavy

IMHO steel, hands down. If you tow any at all that's what I'd get, becuase I never want to second guess my wheels. Don't want to see one fall off or pass me up

Folks use the billit, its just HOW much would YOU really trust something you can't see if its loose or not, then to compound the situation with hauling.
Do they bolt between the rear wheels or to the hub and the wheels to it.
Have you tried to find the factory adapters for the front.

They bolt to the exsisting studs, then you bolt your dualls over it, Im leaving the front as regular singles until I build the funds back up (just bought a western hauler flatbed) but then Ill prolly just use spacers up front as well because my 4wd axle for the conversion is a srw axle

If I may, I'd like to offer an idea to you. Whenever you install your adapters how about putting some red loctite on your trucks original studs. when you bolt on the adapters you'll have a little insurance they'll stay put.

Well all I can say is that you have one of two things going for you. One your just that lucky or you've managed to come across a good parts store. Neither of am I.
There are 4 or 5 different studes that are avalibale and the part houses here suck, that's why it was a pita for me :P

I had a wheel come off on me one day, I went ahead and upgraded to 9/16" studs on all four corners...had to hit up three Arnold Motor Supplys' and O'reilly's to find all the studs. I luckly had some second gen aluminum wheels and lug nuts laying around, so I didn't have to buy new lug nuts...

I would do blue over red. Red takes heat to loosen them up. Blue is easier to take apart. Note, easier, not easy. ;)

Why use less than red if he's gonna run duals. I'd say once its dualed he'll not go back to singles
