Enough if enough

Postby cougar » Sat Apr 07, 2012 12:18 pm

I need a master cylinder !AGAIN! The rebuilt one from Car Quest is spewing fluid out the back down the front of the booster.
I need a GOOD NEW ONE, no more overhauled/rebuilt. Anyone know were I can get one?

I've gotten 3 bad ones from Carquest, I just gave up and put a spacer under the lid gasket and keep it topped up.

Rockauto has some listed as new for our trucks, but who knows. :?

I've been lucky on my second one. All carquest can get is rebuilt/re-manufactured units. I've been thinking about taking one apart and inspecting where the seals leak...next time it happens.

What about this? It says 'new'. I'm going to need to break down and tackle brakes at some point and I only want to do it once ;)

Or what about a repair kit? http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/searc ... vi=1086005

Was it rebuilt by A1 Cardone? I have one rebuilt by them and it works great even after a year no problems.

Could very well be the quality control by the rebuilders. I'm not sure how many rebuilders are out there but I stand behind the parts I sell where I work at Auto Plus. Auto Plus is the new name for what used to be Parts Plus and Big A auto parts. Great business structure. Makes Auto Zone and Advance Auto look like a joke (it is to me)....no offense.

It's good to know the Cardone ones are good. A rebuilt one is ALOT cheaper.

I think everyone here knows Auto Zone is a joke and Advance isn't alot better  There's no Auto Pluses by me

I bought a new Bendix through Amazon. Cheaper than anything local. This has been just frustrating as all getout. 2 bad ones from Napa and now the Carquest one.

Sounds like the trouble I had with wheel cylinders on our old C60 Chevy grain truck. A solid week of hell gett ones that didn't leak. Finally had 4 on the bench and swapped guts til I got them to stop leaking. Killed my back with the f-in drum bolted to the Dayton wheels. Didn't have help at all! Was ready to drag truck out to the middle of the yard and torch it!

Guys at NAPA and Carquest were getting tired of it too. Took 8 different ones.

bendix makes good parts
i can even begin to count how many A1 everything we have warrantied over the years
stopped using them completely.

a1 racks, master cyl, gear boxes, and calipers are the worst offenders

fenco line at advance has been good
