Radiator Tilt Back (electric fan clearance)

Postby mhuppertz » Thu Jul 29, 2010 8:45 pm

My electric fan wires rubbed on my pulley and fried last night. I was looking at it today and realized that the radiator is tilted a whole lot toward the engine to keep it perpendicular to the engine for the mechanical fan. Since I don't have one of those any more, I decided to tip it back toward the front to be parallel with the intercooler and condenser. Following are the steps (which are reversible at any time):

These first two pictures show the tilt amount from the factory.

The mounting bracket hits part of the radiator support:

So I trimmed it with a saws all.

The rubber isolators must be trimmed to clear the radiator support. Just trim enough to make a snug fit that won't allow the radiator to bang into the support.

Just measure the new hole locations and drill them. Also trim the brackets to clear the chrome grill trim. The following show the new location and the increased space. Not I can fit my dual fan setup in there!
