What year is my truck?

Postby Fred_M1010 » Wed Oct 20, 2010 12:06 pm

My truck has the frame from a -73 W200 (supposedly  ) but everything else from a -90, -91 or -92 W250.
Which is actually legal, since the vehicles identity is in the frame over here.

(Vehicles older than 30 years are free from "road-taxes" in Sweden.... )

But now I'm thinking of getting a shop manual for it, and would like to make sure I get the right one.
So is there any dead giveaway to find out what year a truck is without the VIN number?

It has the A518 4-speed auto, intercooler, and it also has the external voltage regulater on the firewall
Any ideas?

With a external regulator, and a 518 I would say its a 91.5. 92 and 3's had the reg in the pcm.

So the A518 didn't come until 91.5 ?
I thought it was in 90.5 but I've been wrong before...
Thats great now we've even narrowed it down to half a year, thanks! :D

btw did the intercooler come in 91.5 as well?
And are you sure all -92 had the voltage regulator in the PCM?

In truth, I would think that, in Sweden, Cummins engine parts might be easier to find than DODGE truck parts, per se.
This would be mainly because of their wide variety of uses and the fact that it seems that Cummins is very much a global supplier of engines.

That might be true, I'll try searching for a Cummins-dealer next time I need a Cummins specific part.
But my experience tells me it's mostly the Dodge specific parts that breaks
