Dually to single wheel questions

Postby RATROD92 » Fri Jun 10, 2011 11:29 am

I would like to change my wheel setup. I was wondering if anyone has experience with this. Can I run a single rear wheel on the rear on my dually axle. I would like to run some 20" wheels from a 2500 chassis. This way I can run a 35 inch tall tire and keep this truck in the range of the VE pump for the 1/4 mile. Plus they wheel selection is fantastic...

When I ordered new rotors they had the same part number as the 2500 rotors. Mine have an adapter or spacer bolted to the outside of the rotor to run the dually front wheel. Anyone know if its possible to remove this spacer and get a rim with less backspacing and run a single 20" up front...

I never took the rear wheels off, can I remove the rear outside wheel and hub? and run a 12" wide rim with some big meats?

Thanks
James

You can do it. Dually rear is a wider rear but depending on backspaving you may not notice it that bad.

Since I do not have a bed on my truck...That doesn't matter much...So I can just remove the outside rear wheel and run a single? Awesome....How about the spacer bolted to the front...can I remove that and bolt the rim to the studs coming through the rotor?...

Remove your duals from the rear and slap on a single. The rotors in front look similar to my D250 compared to my D350. I know the hubs bolt on so not a 100% sure if you can drive a stud threw them or not. I can let you know in a few days if I get to taking mine apart.

Sweet, yea I gotta take mine apart...If this works I would have to run a deep dish wheel up front...20" x 9" with about 4 inches of backspacing....this truck would look awesome...
