Rear brake and seal help

Postby Diesel » Fri Oct 28, 2011 5:08 am

So my 3/4 Ron needs new wheel cylinders and axle seals. If the drum is a little wet I'm guessing that is an outer wheel seal? Question is: what seal do I need. Do I need any outer seal for 12x2.5" brakes? I see timken has inner seals but does that mean the seal at the end of the axle shaft?

3/4 should be 12x2.5, there is only the "rear wheel seal" kinda confuses it when you say inner or outer. I believe advance/napa/any other store are all mixed up on the sizes. IIRC the correct seal is a national P/N417158, best thing to do is to remove it and take it to the store, but more than once i've been told they dont have it

if your looking for the "axle seal" for the very outermost 8 bolts, you should wait and see if yours are the steel shim kind, if so, just clean them off, light coat of rtv and re-use them
