Driver window rolls up crooked

Postby Diesel » Wed Feb 01, 2012 8:27 am

So during my trucks body restoration done last summer a new drivers door had to be sourced and installed. Ever since then the window rolls up crooked and there is a quarter inch gap at one side but not the other side at the top when rolled up. So with the window rolled all the way up it is a little open on the front edge. What is the problem here? Is there any adjustment in there? I haven't taken the panel off to look yet and its getting annoying having the gap.

I would pull the door panel and check everything out, make sure the little wheels on the regulator are spinning freely, the track on the bottom of the window to see if its got crud in it, and check the vertical felt strips to see if they have any snags in them and need to be replaced. I had to replace the drivers door glass in mine back in May, and the glass I got out of the scrapyard, the bottom metal channel/track was rusty as all get out. Wire brush and a spot of paint worked well. I also put a little grease in there to keep the rollers moving smothly...

Hope this helps ya

I was hoping you would say the window can be installed crooked in the track but I fear that I'll find out that the regulator is bolted in and is bolted in crooked :(

Unless one of the rollers got off track or something, I could see how it would roll up crooked. If everything is in place, it shouldn't be an issue. All I know is its a flat pain in the arse to replace a door window, still got the scars to prove it ;) The bolt holes are pretty small, unless something else is goofed, I don't know how it could be messed up. Best plan is to take the panel off and have a look see in there

Well I think the problem is that the new door my body shop installed has one of the guides welded on too high. I was looking around and I think I need to remove and reweld a guide

Someone has to know of a way that I can adjust the tilt of the glass somehow...rewelding is no problem but welding inside the door skin is a serious task.
