2nd gen seats?

Postby nooblet » Tue Oct 30, 2007 11:33 am

I miss my 2nd gen seats. Has anyone put a 2nd gen. bench seat in a first gen regular cab?

Rumblefish- Didnt you recently sell your crew cab?

I had a set of 2ndGen 40-20-40 seats in my reg cab 91, and would do it again in the same truck. However, for a club/ crew cab, the stock captain's chairs are TOUGH to beat for comfort. My driver's seat is worn out, and still more comfortable than my g/f's 04 Dakota.

DP, they fit in a reg cab ok? I'm not sure I like my buckets. Love/ hate! I love the comfort, but hate the cramped getting in and out, and sometimes driving with the wheel so tight. What did you think when you drove it?

Pete- I thought your seats were a little close to the wheel, but what can you do in a regular cab?

When I put the 2ndGen seats (I think from a 94) in the reg cab, I also raised the seats about 3/4-1" higher than they were in the 2ndGen truck, which took up some of the slack in the fore-aft adjustment. I could set the seatback up to its highest position and get to within 3 clicks of all the way back.

There is a thread on the TDR about 2ndGen seats in a 1stGen. I have lots of pics of it (I think)- I can send ya some. I want your driver's seat if you change it out. Heck, I may even pay ya for it.

The red ones are going to Daryl. Maybe after we swap. ;) I'm not sure what I'm doing yet. I have a cab to poke holes in to try to figure it out though! On the other hand, I won't be able to drive after it snows, so I gotta work quick! ;)

So whats a short run down of all thats involved? Just drill new holes? I had the 2-piece bench seat with the fold up center console in my '96. Thats the seat I would like to put in my truck. I'm pretty dam short, so I would like to be able to move my side up without moving the whole bench up. Also my driver side seat is way worn out. The console is always nice too.

Thanks for the replies so far. If you have any pictures of 2nd gen seats in a reg. cab first gen. I'd very much like to see them.
