Newer 1-ton Rear End?

Postby FRadisi » Sat Jun 12, 2010 6:38 am

I have seen it done, and I am looking into swapping a newer dually rear end with disc brakes onto my truck and was wondering if anyone knew what I would need to upgrade on the brake system for it such as which proportioning block do I need to put on there, can I keep the factory master cylinder, would I need to upgrade the front brakes as well?

I put a drum rear axle on my (now Rumblefish's) 92 D350, and had to relearn how to stop it. It was a near bolt in. Had to shorten the driveshaft 1-1/4", ream out the u-bolt plates, and that was about it, I think. With an AntiStop Bypass, it had plenty of stopping power. Brakes are 13x3.5 vs our 12x3.

You will also need some flat faced 2ndGen wheels- 9/16 flat rim vs our 5/8 coined rims.
