new guy with problem

Postby sweetdreamz » Thu May 16, 2013 9:33 am

I own a 1996 2nd gen truck with 47re auto, apparently the previous owner blew the motor and dropped in a 1st gen ve pump motor. Problem I am having is the kickdown cable to control the pressure in tranny. How do I connect a 2nd gen kickdown cable for a 47re to a ve pump throttle assembly??????? Help or links would be greatly appreciated.

This is how a stock intercooled linkage set up looks. The cable closest to the engine is the cruise control. The one in the middle is the kick down or "TV" cable. The outboard is the throttle.

You will need to change the transmission end of the TV cable so it becomes a push cable like this

1st and 2nd gen TV cables are different. The second gen does a 180° as seen in the above link. You will have to fab a bracket on the transmission to turn the cable back around. If your hoping for a bolt on solution there isn't one that I know of.

Would a 1st gen TV cable fit in place of the 2nd gen? With addition of a bracket or two?

You may need to replace the arm the cable attaches to to a 1st gen arm. Different length and clocking.

Well, I ended up having a buddy fab up a new bracket and rod to connect to the TV cable on the other side of pump. Works fine.
