Any recommendations on a mounting location? This should get plumbed in before the factory water cooler to help keep engine coolant temps down as well? Run the fan off a thermostat and switched power?
Thanks for any input.

I am 90% certain the filters, gaskets, and pans are interchangeable on 727s through 47REs and maybe 48REs. I'm not an expert though

If you do not have one already, I would suggest a reusable gasket. The pan gaskets that come in all the filter kits that I've had were of poor quality. I believe you can get a reusable gasket at the dealer and maybe other places. They were supposedly OE, but you don't know if the PO threw it away 20 years ago until it's too late.

I thought the 518 was just a 727 with overdrive. Is this right?

In a diesel application I'm posetive! I swapped my 727 pan over when I updated to the A518. Same filter and gasket as well.

91'w250 with a new pump. This one doesn't chase itself around in a circle.

the 727s use an old style filter that has 3 screw holes, and a metal band around the outside of the element which is a "cloth" style. the newer 46, 47 and 48s use basicly the same filter but it is encased in a plastic housing on one side and stamped steel on the other. when we rebuild them, we crack em open to see how much filings and metal is in them so we can determine if it's worth rebuilding, or just swap in a reman unit.
