The problem your seeing is called converter drain back. It happens when you let it set for a extended time. The converter will drain out. Most shift kits have provision in them for the drain back problem. In those trans the converter does not fill up till the trans is taken out of park. There is no fluid flow in Park. If you put the trans in neutral for a minute or so before trying to move the truck. The converter will be filled.
your trans is called a 518.
