My "built" 47rh with a lower than stock stall feels like a slipping mess without the lockup working. Goes like a bat outa hell when you hammer it, but you can't feel the torque of the lower rpms at all. Even moderate acceleration requires shoving my foot into it some, whereas with the lockup, I could just hit the switch and take off, without giving it a bunch of throttle. Those that haven't drove a 1st gen with lock up don't know what you're missing. A second gen starter is required for the swap as well. Stock shift linkage will work, but will be twisted to the rear somewhat.
