converter question

Postby GO OVRIT » Tue Jan 15, 2008 4:07 pm

When I bought my dually, the guy gave me a tourqu converter that he had put in it previously. The trans burned up and natuarlly the AAMCO shop wouldn't reuse it. He said he paid around $1200 for it and he thinks it is a Suncoast. Where is the best place to send it and have it checked and cleaned. I'd like to put it in my 92.

Actually I think its an ATS. I found some paperwork from an ats tranny in the 2 foot stack of papers he gave me with the truck. And its purple.

Yea I'm pretty sure its an ATS. I'm just affraid to put it in without it being checked/cleaned after being in a tranny that went bad. The fluid in it looks great, but I can't be sure that there's no metal in it.

I would send it back to ATS and have then check it out. if you send it to some other T/C rebuild shop, there Going to tell you its bad just to sell you there new one.
Sending it to ATS may cost you a hundred dollar bill for then to cut it open and make sure for yeah................

if it costs you 500 to have it shipped and rebuilt and sent back it is well worth it considering what a new one costs......
