3 speed auto diffs ....

Postby burnt_servo » Sat Jun 21, 2008 5:30 pm

do we have a diff section here yet ? ....

anyway .....

i maybe about to swap straight across my diffs for the higher geared ones that are in a truck with a 3 speed auto ... my truck has a 518 .....

is this a worth while swap for a auto truck with a non locking torque converter , or is this just going to make my transmision oil really hot .....

the other diffs have much lower miles on them , so i would assume they are in better shape .

Check them out thoroughly- Make sure you wont need gears. Philip will need to verify this, but I think the guts of the LSD and bearings are the same as the others.

I think you'd be ok with a 3.07 and OD, IF you upgrade your convertor from stock to a Hughes, DTT, Goerends, etc. If you dont, you'll still be turning the same engine RPM as with 3.54s.

Where are these 3.07s located? I need to swap my dually to a SRW anyway......

when i swap trans i think i'll do the diffs at the same time .
