205 adapters

Postby Raymo » Sat Feb 07, 2009 5:35 pm

So I have a four wheel drive 4500 comming which means my divorced transfercase idea isnt going to work in my Chevy conversion. My question is can I take an adaptor from a 23 spline 205 and put it on a 29? I found a cheap 23 spline 205 and want to get a 29 input for it. Are the bearings larger on the 29's? If so thats not a problem. Thanks for any input!

Well I figured out I will need to put in a larger bearing... no biggie. But will the adapter fit from the 23?

The adaptor and the case will need to be machined for the larger bearing and input.

There are several different bolt patterned 205's in addition to the larger bearings. Make sure the other 205 is the correct bolt pattern.
