Hi Guys,
I have a cummins 5.9 out of a '92 Dodge and I'm retrofitting it into a '75 Grumman Step Van that has been converted to an RV.
Most of the sensors on the engine are not needed (I think), and as I remove them I'd like to document them and label what they are and where they were located. I've searched for an electrical diagram for the engine and have not found it. Is there an online source. No, I have not spent the money for a proper service manual since I've found nearly everything needed online.
Does anyone have a list of sensors? Should I make one, and photograph them all as I remove them? This might be a useful sticky.
The only engine sensors I plan on running are the engine temp, oil pressure and water-in-fuel switch wired to a dummy light and an egt. Water temp and Oil Pressure will be replaced with the original Grumman/International sensors so the dash works right. I may leave the crank sensor there so I can run a tach at some point. Is there anything else I need?
There are a couple sensors on top of the intake that I don't know the names of, a small one and a big one on the side of the block on the driver's side; perhaps oil pressure and water temp, a TPS sensor that I don't need I think (46rh), and maybe 1 or two more sensors I'm not remembering.
Thanks in advance,
Byron
